Paintings and other works...
Since the turn of the century, my work has involved the creation of a conceptual and aesthetic body of paintings as well as more recent explorations into site-specific interventions with roots in land use, environmental issues, and western romanticism. Born in Reno Nevada in 1977, my early years were spent living in a motel in downtown Reno where I experienced first hand the boom and bust culture of so many towns steeped in and quickly fading from, the mythical western tradition. My work is based on myth, the romantic re-interpretation of Manifest Destiny, and the Western mentality that influences the Landscape of the American West. Growing up in Reno, I have been continuously immersed in wild places, vast horizons, ghost towns, and tumbleweeds.
I make the work I do out of my infatuation with open space, freedom, history, dirt roads, song, deserts, distances, hoboes, weather, sagebrush, alleys, depressed landscapes, and found objects.
